“Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.” — Luke 8:11
When Jesus explained the parable of the sower in Luke 8, He gave a simple yet profound truth: the seed is the Word of God.
Everything begins there.
Not with human wisdom.
Not with persuasive personalities.
Not with political movements or cultural influence.
But with the living and enduring Word of God being sown into the hearts of men and women.
This is the foundation of “Sown Seed.”
“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” — John 1:14
We live in Canada — a nation historically shaped by Christianity, surrounded by churches, Christian language, and religious tradition. Yet despite all of this familiarity, there remains a desperate need for true Gospel witness. Many know the name of Jesus, but few truly know Him as the Christ.
There is a difference between cultural Christianity and saving faith.
A person may grow up attending church, celebrate Christmas and Easter, or even agree with Christian morals, while still remaining spiritually dead apart from Christ. The call of the Gospel is not merely to admire Jesus, but to repent and believe in Him. It is to see Him as the promised Messiah, crucified for sinners and risen again in victory over death.
This is why the Word of God must continue to be sown.
In the parable, Jesus describes different kinds of soil — different human hearts responding to the same seed. Some reject it immediately. Some receive it emotionally but fall away. Some are choked by the cares and riches of this world. Yet some hear the Word, hold fast to it, and bear fruit with endurance.
The power was never in the sower.
The power was never in the soil itself.
The power is in the seed.
God’s Word is alive. It convicts. It reveals Christ. It exposes sin. It softens hardened hearts. It gives life where there was once only death.
That truth gives great hope for Canada.
Though our nation grows increasingly secular, indifferent, and confused, the Gospel has not lost its power. Jesus Christ still saves sinners. The Spirit of God still opens blind eyes. The Word of God still bears fruit.
Sometimes the field appears barren. Sometimes the seed seems unnoticed. Yet the farmer continues sowing because he trusts that life comes from God.
That is our aim with this blog.
Not to entertain.
Not to argue endlessly about politics or culture.
Not to build a platform around personalities.
But simply to sow the seed faithfully.
We want to point people to Scripture. To proclaim Christ clearly. To encourage believers to stand firm in truth and love. To call sinners to repentance and faith. And to remind ourselves continually that no heart is beyond the saving power of God.
Jesus said in John 4 that the fields are white for harvest. That remains true today — in Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, rural towns, university campuses, workplaces, homes, and neighborhoods all across Canada.
People are searching for hope while surrounded by distractions that cannot save. They need more than religion. More than self-help. More than moral improvement.
They need Christ.
So we sow.
We sow trusting that God is able to save.
We sow believing His Word will not return void.
We sow because someone once sowed the Gospel into our own lives.
And we sow because Jesus Christ is worthy to be known and worshipped in this nation.
“The seed is the word of God.”
May He give the growth.
“He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God.”— Revelation 19:13
